What Should I Pay My Agents An A Philippines Call Center?

By admin On May 27, 2009 Under Call Center Payroll

I have been thinking about this for the last week because I have a friend here in the Philippines that I just meet that is setting up a call center here.

He has ask me and friends for allot of advise but has not taken it in because he is hard headed and is going to have to learn the hard way.

In my eyes and the way that I have seen other call centers here in the Philippines do it is.

1. Start the agents out as trainees and pay them the minimum.
2. After 30 days if they made the cut them place them as probationary, up there pay from the minimum to 12,000 Peso plus commission.
3. Once they hit 6 months regularize them and give them there punk pay and rice pay which is 10% of there wage on punk and then a 1000 Peso for there rice.

The problem that you have here in the Philippines is once you set some ones pay you are not able to change it unless you fired them or the quit. So its best to have there base low and there commission high.

At the end of the day you need to keep your employees driving by money not by just getting a pay check every month.

On another note you have the bigger call centers offering the 18K flat plus the allowances but the problem that the call center agents are going to have is growth in the large call centers. Because there are so many people in these offices that are all pretty much going after the same thing which is to grow in the company and make more money. The problem that they are going to have is that there is 5,000 other people trying to get the same thing, there chances of growing and making more money in a smaller company is much better.

Well thats my sale.

This one was for you Bobby, you are going to have to go through staff no matter what. It’s not all the time that the more money that you pay your staff the better that they are going to be, which in most cases the more you pay your staff the more of a pain in the ass they will be.

In my eyes, I would rather hire some one that had no call center experience but speaks really good English then hire some one that had allot of call center experience, just more head ache.

Another thing that you want to look at when looking for agents is the number of call centers that they have been to and how long that they worked at each call center because you are going to get jumpers, these are agents that jump from one call center to another which is what you don’t want.
