Do I Need A Drivers License To Drive In The Philippines

By admin On November 21, 2011 Under Call Center Philippines

This is a easy one!

NO!

I drove in the Philippines for years with no drivers license and got away with it and I know allot of people getting away with it right now.

Here is the down side, every time that you get pulled over by the cops its going to cost you about 500 to 1000 Peso skin tax which to some may be worth it.

Now How do I get a drivers license in the Philippines?
Also very easy.

Take your drivers license where every you are from down to the LTO in QC which is a bitch to get to and make sure you go early and plan on staying there all day. Once you get there tell show them you drivers license or tell them what you need and they will point you in the right place, again look out for the fixers. Cost about 1,500 Peso some some thing like 30 dollars. They will have you feel out some basic form pay for it and then go take a drug test yes that’s correct a drug test. The test will cost around 500 Peso and I think they don’t even do any thing so you wait a little bit then get the results and then take back to the LTO. The drug testing place is near the LTO, I think we just walked there because it was that close.

I got my drivers license and was like finally I will not get harassed! WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG. Nothing changed every time that you get stopped by a cop in the Philippines you are pretty much going to have to pay them some thing. In some cases they will require you to go and take a class for like 7 hours in god knows where, never happened to me but had friends do it before because they did not want to give the police man money under the table. I can still remember to this day my friend Romeo telling me about this and he said next time they ask for money he was just going to pay them.

I still think that it’s a good idea and suggest that you get your drivers license in the Philippines because it’s legal but there are allot of people driving with out one.

No matter what your going to get harassed.

Buddy of mine drove around without driver’s license all was good even when he got caught couple times but paid a little grease money and off he went.

problems came when someone bumped in his car in traffic, even if your not at fault, since you don’t have a license it IS your fault. That friend of mine paid for everything, car damages etc also grease money to stay out of jail, and months of ludacris hospital bills for the person who banged his car.

My advice: get a driver.
